Packaging Manager

Our client, based in the South West of England, is a manufacturer and wholesaler of spare parts and accessories supplying only to trade customers. The company consists of eighteen trading companies in seventeen different countries.

Reporting to the Product Marketing Director this role is responsible for the development, maintenance and effective implementation of packaging standards across the Group.

Job Purpose:
Ensure the 'right' packaging (fit for purpose/cost effective) is consistently applied to all products and that it is in line with the Group packaging standards
Develop supplier capability to package product at source ensuring Group Packaging standards are adhered to
Awareness and implementation of legal and environmental responsibilities relating to packaging materials where required

Main Tasks:
Work with internal (Product and Sales teams) and external customers to deliver on-going maintenance and development of product packaging for existing and new products
As required add and delete packaging options solutions from the company range working closely with Operations to manage both stock levels and packaging supplier relationships
Align product packaging across the Group i.e. one product packaged same way in all markets
Work with Product Development, Supply Chain and Suppliers to extend the number of suppliers that package at source i.e. in company approved packaging, company labelled and in pack quantities that align with our customer offer
Improve wherever possible the environmental impact of packaging

Essential Experience and Skills:
Previous product packaging specification and management
Strong project management, planning and time management skills.
Ability to manipulate and analyse data
Excellent Negotiation skills/supplier management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail a must
Excellent PC literacy (Microsoft Office)

Qualifications and Personal Qualities:
Degree qualified
Ability to work unsupervised and using own initiative
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships both face to face and over other forms of communication

Salary : up to 25,00 DOE
